A walk (and wedding shoot) in the clouds

As the clouds gathered and a storm threatened high above the Pretoria skyline, Mon Cheri Photography had the privilege of snapping the wedding photos of the lovely Thandi and Zivai.

The couple chose the stunning countryside venue, Bell Amour, which features amazing outside spaces as well as light conditions that allow us to create that perfect natural-looking wedding photo.

It was our hope to capture the beauty, emotion and magic of their day and to transform even the ordinary moments into extraordinary memories to be cherished for a lifetime.

With Thandi and Zivai the essence of love and the joy of the wedding day were in full supply and it provided a fantastic canvas for us to work with.

The formalities took place in an open-air chapel surrounded by lush vineyards and, beyond, the natural surroundings provided a breath-taking backdrop as the couple exchanged their vows under greying skies.

The ceremony was filled with rich cultural traditions as their union was celebrated and not even the weather could dim the sparkle in their eyes – or our enthusiasm to capture it.

Thankfully the storm passed in the nick of time and they could open the reception with a beautiful first dance out on the terrace.

We were naturally anxious (but not showing it) about the shoot raining out and gave ourselves the hurry-up to complete the couple shoot. Despite the time challenge, we came away with the most stunning images of the newlyweds.

Thandi’s dress was one of a kind with a black pattern at the bottom paying homage to her culture. The reception was a lively celebration with friends and family joining from far and wide.

Our hope is that the moments digitised in these photos will one day take the bride and groom back to their special day with a warm feeling in their hearts.
