For our latest collaboration, we partnered up with Pink Book Weddings and headed to Ever Be Country Venue in Pretoria. The wedding theme for the day was a beautiful combination of earthy tones, rich copper and stunning natural pampas grass.
Pampas Grass and Earthy Wedding Inspiration
A French Industrial Wedding Venue in the Countryside
Ever Be Venue is a new wedding venue located between Pretoria & Johannesburg. The venue has been a dream envisioned by Nanette, Claudette and their family for many years and was finally established in 2017. Their industrial French design was inspired by a minimalist view and love for traditional French venues. The idyllic country setting makes for a great backdrop for our photos. And the rustic face brick wall of the reception hall looked amazing with our earthy decor elements.
An Amazing, Artistic Wedding Cake Design
Pro baker Elli, from The Turquoise Squirrel Patisserie, created the beautiful wedding cake design for this shoot. Here is what she had to say; “For the cake, I really wanted something out of the ordinary, as I felt that the shoot and styling was also very much outside of the ‘norm’. I was super excited about the concept. I wanted to include a textural feel to the surface of the cake as a backdrop. And for a focal-point, sugar flower arrangements. The arrangement ended up in a more unconventional position on the cake in terms of its placement, which I really enjoyed. For the sugar flowers, I wanted to bring in the moody, darker colours, which really pop off the cake, with a couple of unusual sugar flower elements, such as branches and grass.”
Wedding Stationery & Jewellery
The invitations and stationery for the setup was provided by I Do Creative Concepts. They matched the tone and colours of the decor perfectly with neutral paper stock and copper coloured typography. The wax seal on the menus added a charming touch.
We absolutely loved the outstanding set of rings, bracelets and earrings from Lorean Jewellery’s collection. The rose gold tied in perfectly with our theme, while the dark gemstones added a dramatic element.
The Flowers and Decor Inspiration
Lizelle from Pronkertjie has worked with Pink Book on quite a few expo’s and shoots, and we trusted her to take this concept and turn it into something beautiful. She shares her creative process and inspiration with us;
“When Pink Book invites you to get creative and do what you love most, there is absolutely no hesitation when answering “YES!” (especially when the chosen location for the shoot just happens to be your all-time favourite wedding venue). Earthly Pampas: the design inspiration that stirred excitement in my heart through-out the planning process.
I had the amazing opportunity to create something uniquely beautiful that would not only speak to Pronkertjie’s signature design style but also compliment the French-industrial building style of Ever Be. By pairing earthly décor elements with exquisite floral hints, it was easy to bring the vision to life on an almost magical tablescape.
The design came together by combining Ever Be’s raw wooden tables with a neutral coloured tulle, softly cascading from the table to the floor – this added a touch of femininity to the overall look and the elegance we desire at any wedding table. I made use of different textures and colours to gently lead your eyes over the table. A plain linen napkin that compliments the colour of the Pampas grass was paired with a softer accent napkin to draw the attention back to the detailed glassware.
Tall, tapered dinner candles were placed in a variety of candle holders to draw your attention upward to the floating Pampas arrangement, effortlessly dancing above the table. Statement florals like Orchids & Tulips in ever-so-elegant white looked luxurious alongside the soft, oatmeal-coloured plumes. The bridal bouquet was created with a beautiful selection of layered Pampas, Orchids, Anthuriums & Tulips; perfectly completing the bridal-look. It truly was a thrilling experience to create floral designs with Pampas!”
The Bride & Groom
The bride’s lace gown and the groom’s dapper suits were provided by Bridal and Tuxedo boutique in Fourways. The groom’s beige suit was complemented by a black and gold paisley tie and pocket square. And a small sprig of berries and dried grass acted as the boutonniere, tieing in with the wedding theme.
The bride was beautifully made up by freelance makeup artist, Zandi Loots, who went with a soft base and romantic touches of blush and eyeshadow. The wedding dress was a long-sleeve lace mermaid gown with feminine, frilly flared sleeve cuffs.
The Photos & Video
The styled shoot was captured by Rynali van Zyl and his amazing team at Mon Chéri Photography Ent. His natural style set the models at ease and captured the pops of purple and earthly tones perfectly. Easy to work with, creative and professional; Mon Chéri Photography Ent. worked brilliantly with videographer, Chris from Nightowl Media. Here is what they had to say about the experience: “With styled shoots essentially being ‘free shoots’, you don’t always know what to expect from all the suppliers in terms of commitment to the shoot. I have to compliment Pink Book on their selection of suppliers for this styled shoot. Every single one of the suppliers were extremely professional and gave 100% to the Styled shoot. I can only imagine if this is the effort that they give for a ‘Free shoot’, what the level of service and commitment will be to their paying clients. Thank you Pink Book for selecting us to be part of this incredible experience. It was an honour.”
